Deerwood Drive 1976-1978
The pictures in these albums were taken during the first few years we lived in Quail Valley. All are taken on North Fountain Valley Drive and Deerwood Drive. Homes were built in this section starting in about 1973. Several of the first residents on the block recall visiting their lot when there was no roads. Pictures taken by Gregg Vaupel.

Tennis in Quail Valley
This is a set of photos covering tennis in the  early 1970's. During this time many new courts were built, resulting in three seperate "club owned" courts in Quail Valley. In the beginning, tennis was played on the old courts on LaQuinta, then at the Rec Center, then later at Newk's Tennis Club on Cypress Point. Photos donated by the Nicholson family.

Newk's Brochure
This album shows a vintage Newk's brochure from about 1975. The brochure was printed before the covered courts or the Newk's Clubhouse was built. It captures a short, but exciting chapter in Quail Valley's history when John Newcombe lent his name and expertise to Quail Valley. Although absent from day-to-day operations, Newcombe managed the tennis operations here while playing tennis and running his tennis ranch in New Braunfels. This lasted from about 1975 to 1980, when the management  was turned over to the club. Brochure donated by Lori Hudson.

July 4th Hackers
This was a small tournament held among friends in Quail Valley every year on the 4th of July. The participants enjoyed a Bloody Mary contest and brunch at the Stevens house. Everyone arrived in their  decorated golf carts, and after the brunch they played 18 holes of golf. After golfing, everyone would gather at the Cody house. The tradition lasted 25 years (1978 - 2002). Over the years, about 50 people played in the tournament. Pictures courtesy of Wayne and Mary Stevens.
